COMPRESSION THERAPY EXPLAINED

How It Works and Why Your Body Loves It.

A simple guide to the benefits of Normatec compression and what to expect at Iremia. Read on and book your session in here when you are ready to come try out the compression room.

Compression therapy is one of the easiest and most relaxing ways to support recovery. If you train regularly, sit at a desk all day or simply want to boost circulation in a calm, peaceful setting, Normatec compression can be a game changer for your body. It delivers a deep, rhythmic massage that helps reduce soreness, improve mobility and support overall wellbeing.

At Iremia Recovery, our Normatec system offers leg, arm and hip attachments, giving you a tailored experience based on what your body needs most.

Here is everything you need to know before your session.

What compression therapy actually does

Normatec uses air filled sleeves that inflate and deflate in a wave like pattern. This creates a pressure massage that moves fluid through the limbs, boosts circulation and helps your body recover faster.

The benefits are simple but powerful:

  • Increased blood flow

  • Reduced muscle soreness

  • Faster recovery after training

  • Decreased swelling and fluid retention

  • Improved mobility and flexibility

  • A deep feeling of relaxation

It is gentle, effective and suitable for most people.

What areas can be treated

Our Normatec system allows you to choose from:

  • Legs: Ideal for runners, lifters, anyone on their feet all day and anyone who experiences heavy or tired legs.

  • Arms: Great for upper body training days, desk work tension and mobility support.

  • Hips: Perfect for lower back discomfort, hip tightness and anyone who feels stiff through the pelvis.

You can choose the area you want to focus on when you book your session.

What your session looks like at Iremia

Compression therapy at Iremia is a 45 minute session held in a semi private room that is bookable up to two people at the one time.

The loungers are soft, supportive and designed for complete relaxation. Once you are set up in the sleeves, you can switch off and let the system work. You are welcome to bring headphones, a book or something to enjoy while you unwind.

How it feels during your session

Most people describe the sensation as a gentle, rhythmic squeezing that moves up the limbs in waves. It should never feel painful. Instead it feels soothing, grounding and almost meditative. Many guests say they leave feeling lighter and more refreshed.

Why compression therapy pairs well with other recovery tools

Compression works beautifully alongside infrared sauna, the magnesium pool and cold plunge. Together, these services help improve circulation, reduce inflammation and support the nervous system. It is also an excellent standalone treatment on days when you want something simple and restorative. We do have our Ultimate Day Package that includes a little bit of everything Iremia has… starting with infrared sauna, before moving to the compression session and finishing with The Recovery Room. You can find this in our Day Packages here.

Who compression therapy is great for

Compression therapy is ideal for:

  • Athletes of all levels

  • People who walk or stand all day

  • Anyone who sits at a desk for long hours

  • People with tight hips or heavy legs

  • Anyone needing gentle, low effort recovery

If you are looking for a session that feels effortless but deeply effective, this is it.
